Frozen food distributor Central Foods has donated a new football kit to students at a nearby school. 

Youngsters at Collingtree C of E Primary School, near Northampton, will be running out onto the pitch in their new strip this season following the gift from Central Foods, which is based in the village.

“The new football kit looks great and we are delighted and grateful that Central Foods is supporting the school in this way,” said Collingtree C of E Primary School head of school Richard Albert. “The children are very excited to have a brand new full team kit for the 2018/2019 season.”

Featuring shorts, shirts, socks and raincoats for 11 players, the kit was handed over by Central Foods MD Gordon Lauder during a school assembly at the start of term.

Gordon Lauder said: “As a local company, based in Collingtree, we are very pleased to be supporting Collingtree Primary School and look forward to hearing how the footballers at the school perform over the upcoming season.

“It’s great to be able to encourage youngsters to enjoy physical sports and activities, and we hope that the donation from Central Foods will bring the teams good luck.”

The donation marks the start of an ongoing relationship between the school and the company, with Central Foods hoping to support the school in other ways in the future.

“Several of our employees live in the village and have children at the school, so it is nice we can give something back in this way. Central Foods was founded in Northamptonshire and has been in operation for more than 21 years now. We very much value our team and our community and are looking forward to continuing to strengthen our links to, and support for, the area,” added Gordon.
