Polarbröd launches ‘snacks for seniors’ recipe booklet

Swedish baker Polarbröd has unveiled a recipe booklet for care home caterers which brings together French-inspired recipe ideas for its soft thinbreads.

The booklet features a range of mouth-watering and appetising recipes for sweet and savoury PolarCrepes – filled, folded, and baked thinbreads that make perfect snacks for seniors.

“Half of a senior’s daily nutritional intake comes from breakfast and snacks, yet not all nursing and care homes have a planned snack menu,” explains Jenny Jeppsson, concept manager at Polarbröd.

“PolarCrepes have been developed in cooperation with foodservice managers in the field of geriatric care, who want nursing and care-home kitchens to give as much attention to snack menus as they do to lunch and dinner menus.

“The nutritional content of snacks should be calculated, so that all managers can feel confident that they are providing their elderly residents with balanced nutrition throughout the day.”

The beautifully illustrated PolarCrepes recipe booklet includes recipes, serving tips, preparation ideas and the nutritional value of each menu item.

“All you need for the PolarCrepe recipes is thinbread, pantry staples and, for the sweet version, fresh fruit,” added Jenny Jeppsson.

Polarbröd Arctic Soft Thinbread is a soft, rectangular-shaped, wheat and rye thin bread, ideal for making wraps, rolling, cutting and many other uses. It has no hard crusts, no messy crumbs and is soft and flexible – making it super easy to work with and a hit with elderly consumers.
