Central Foods expands vegan range with products from jackfruit innovators Jack & Bry

Central Foods has extended its range of free-from products for the food service sector by launching four new vegan jackfruit-based products from Jack & Bry ahead of Veganuary 2021.

The move comes as demand for meat-free and plant-based products continues to rise.

Newly available via Central Foods are the Jack & Bry sizzling sausages, juicy burger patties, sausage coins and pepperoni slices – all made from tasty and nutritious jackfruit, which offers a delicious meaty texture and taste whilst also being low in calories and high in fibre.

All four products are also gluten free.

Gordon Lauder, MD of Central Foods, said: “Jack & Bry’s jackfruit products are fantastic and a great way for food service operators to expand their vegan and gluten-free menus. The pepperoni slices make superb toppings for vegan pizzas, while the sausage coins are ideal for making the ultimate meat-free meat feast pizza, although both work just as well in toasties and sandwiches! Both the jackfruit sausages and burgers are perfect meat-free alternatives on any menu.

“Demand for vegan food has been growing for some time but this has increased recently, with a survey of those who took part in Veganuary 2020 revealing that 32% were eating more vegan food as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.

“We’re delighted that Central Foods is now a distributor of these tasty Jack & Bry items for food service.”

Jack & Bry’s plant-based meats have been developed specifically to recreate the taste, texture and flavour of their meat counterparts, making them perfect for meat eaters, flexitarians, vegetarians and vegans.

The company specialises in jackfruit product development and recently revealed that it had sold more than 20 million plant-based pepperoni slices since launching in 2019.
